Slippery when wet!
Let's be honest, finding the best vibrator is a hassle but picking out the best personal lubricant for you can feel just as overwhelming. Buying lube can be, at best, embarrassing and, at worst, downright confusing, especially if the only type of lube you’ve purchased before is from the drugstore. That being said, knowing what you are looking for and for what will make it easier for you to wine down your options and make a wonderful decision.
One of the very first things that happens when a woman becomes aroused is that she becomes “wet.” This wetness is a natural lubricant produced by the vagina, created by the body to assist in 'lovemaking'. The amount produced is not always the same and can vary on a number of internal and external factors such as menstrual cycle, age, stress levels, health status, and even medications. But lubricants aren’t only for helping to overcome vaginal dryness. They’re also fun! Lubes can be used in conjunction with moisturizers to enhance pleasure on-demand. Both women and men say that including lubricants in their lovemaking increases their pleasure. There are three main types of lubricants: hybrid, water-based, and silicone-based. The best lubricant for people depends on their needs.
Here is your quick 5 minutes walk-through
Water-Based, is your safest bet! It can be used for all of your sexual needs, penetrative sex, masturbation, and sex toy play. It is ideal for vaginal sex solely do to the fact the vagina is porous. Just like any other skin on one's body, it absorbs. The water base is as close to a woman's natural moisture, so it is also great for people who have sensitive skin and it is great with condoms! Water-based lubes are also wonderful for silicone toys for men and women. This style of lube is gentle and won't break down the silicone in the toy, unlike using a silicone lube on a silicone toy which will break down your toy.
Water-based lubes do have some downsides though. They are not good for water-play/shower- play, as they will just wash away. Also, water-based lubes tend to require frequent re-application just because it quickly gets absorbed into our bodies.
Silicone-based, lube is slippery, long lasting, which is ideal for a longer session. This is because It requires less reapplication. Silicone is ideal for skin on skin anal sex. Silicone-based lubes are also great for shower sex or masturbation in the shower, as they don’t wash away so easily. The catch is that silicone-based lubes are a bit more tedious to wash off, as you will need soap and water to clean up afterward. Sometimes silicone-based lubes tend to stain sheets but they easily wash off in the wash.
Silicone-based lubricants should not be used with silicone-based sex toys, as they can break down the rubber over time. However, this doesn’t mean all sex toys are off limits with silicone-based lubricants, there are many toys made from other materials, such as hard plastic, glass, and steel.
Hybrid lube, unlike silicone lube, does not feel greasy or oily, and it washes off easily. Hybrid lubes are safe for latex and non-latex barriers and all sex toys, including those made of silicone. Some hybrid lubes contain parabens, which may cause irritation, but most types of hybrid lube are good for sensitive skin. The idea between hybrid lubes is that you get the best of both worlds so great for both vaginal and anal sex!!!
